Synthedit For Mac

SynthEdit is a modular development platform that allows anyone to visually program instrument and effect plug-ins. Completed with an SDK, it was only able to output 32-bit VST plug-ins for Windows. Until now, for in this new 1.2 version, which is still in Alpha stage but already available for download, you are now able to develop VST 3 plug-ins for Windows and Mac OS X 64-bit (but no Audio Unit). There are still some restrictions, the first is that the installer only runs on Windows 7 and 8 (if you’re a Mac user, you’ll have to install Parallels or equivalent Windows-emulator software) and even though you can load, in the 64-bit version, projects containing 32-bit modules, some module may not be recognized.

A 32-bit version of this v1.2 alpha version is also available but now the 64-bit has widely been popularized, we hope that the developers will quickly adopt it and offer 64-bit VST 3 versions of their plug-ins (imagine the number of available freeware plug-ins out there?) for Mac as well as upgraded versions for Windows. Visit for more information about this v1.2 Alpha of SynthEdit.

Hi Jani, 64 bit export is creating a folder with lots of separate assets ( images,.txt files,.sem module files etc. ), is it possible to export plugin instead as a single vst3 or vst2 dll file? I noticed 32-bit export does export everything as a single DLL instead of folder structure. With recent version of Windows, security is much tighter so we can't have files 'hidden' inside the dll anymore. Is it possible to export 64-bit VST2 file? Yes, this is now possible, however it is a 'wrapped' VST3 plugin, so it has some limitations from VST3 format like limited MIDI support.

How does Mac AU export works? Is it possible to convert 3rd party 32 bit modules to 64 bit somehow? No, the developer needs to do it. Any convolution modules to use own impulse WAV files? I think our friend Mr Budde has made one. Best Regards, Jeff.
